Project Overview
A Fresh Look for a Well-Used Garden
When we received a call from a returning client we had worked with previously, we knew this project was going to be a little different from our earlier work.
This time, the client asked us to renovate the rear section of the garden – the area where they spend most of their time relaxing and enjoying the outdoor space. The aim was not to completely redesign the garden, but to improve what was already there and make the area more practical, comfortable and visually appealing.
After discussing the client's ideas, we suggested several changes of our own. These were warmly welcomed and allowed us to introduce additional features that made a significant difference to both the appearance and atmosphere of the garden.
One of the key additions was a new raised bed, bringing more structure, greenery and character into the space. It created a natural focal point while helping to soften the surrounding hard landscaping and give the garden a calmer, more inviting feel.
We also completely renovated the steps leading into the garden. The original steps were relatively narrow, so we redesigned and rebuilt them to be considerably wider. This simple change transformed the entrance to the garden, making it feel much more open and welcoming while also providing safer and more comfortable access.
By combining the client's original ideas with our own recommendations, we were able to give this well-used part of the garden a fresh new look without losing its existing character.
The finished space feels more open, balanced and peaceful – a garden designed not only to look good, but to be genuinely enjoyed. For us, this project is a great example of how carefully considered changes can completely transform the way an existing outdoor space feels and functions.
