Sahara Pearl

Our client contacted us shortly after purchasing their new home, looking to completely transform the existing garden into a modern, practical and, most importantly, low-maintenance outdoor space.

The main goal was to create a large paved area that would provide plenty of usable space for outdoor furniture, relaxing and entertaining, while still keeping enough greenery to give the garden a natural and welcoming feel.

For the main patio area, we installed Sahara Pearl Smooth Calibrated Paving Stone in 600 × 900 mm slabs. The large-format paving, combined with its smooth finish and subtle natural tones, gives the garden a clean and contemporary appearance. Sahara Pearl was a fantastic choice for this project, creating an elegant finish that complements the property beautifully while providing a practical outdoor surface for everyday use.

We also created generous flower beds around the paved area, giving the clients plenty of space to introduce their own choice of plants, flowers and seasonal colour over time. This allows the garden to continue developing while keeping the overall design simple and easy to maintain.

Another important decision was to retain the existing hedge. Rather than replacing it with new fencing, we felt that the established hedge would become an attractive feature of the finished garden. It provides natural privacy and softens the appearance of the new hard landscaping, creating a great balance between the modern paving and existing greenery.

As part of the transformation, the client also requested a small garden shed, providing useful additional storage without taking away too much valuable outdoor space.

We also constructed new steps leading from the rear doors into the garden, improving access and creating a much more natural transition between the house and the newly landscaped area. The new steps were designed to work seamlessly with the paving and bring the whole project together.

Every element of this garden was planned with practicality and long-term maintenance in mind. The clean lines, large-format paving, defined planting areas and retained mature hedge have created an outdoor space that feels spacious and modern without becoming too hard or clinical.

Completed in November 2025, this project is a great example of how thoughtful landscaping and carefully selected materials can completely change the way an outdoor space looks and functions.

The result is a smart, spacious and low-maintenance garden that the clients can enjoy from day one, while still having the freedom to add their own personality through planting and finishing touches in the future.
